Course Structure

All Courses follow the same structure. In each session, we deconstruct one of my paintings - understanding and practicing all underlying techniques that bring it to life.

I begin with a demonstration of every technique required to create that painting, breaking it down step by step. You’ll then apply these techniques to paint the same artwork alongside me.

By the end of each class, you’ll not only have learned a complete painting but also developed a deeper appreciation for:

  • Technique – Practical watercolour skills and methods we use

  • Theory – How and why these techniques work together

  • Historical Context – the artists, movements and stories that inspire choice of subject matter

Each class blends hands-on painting with insight, connecting the act of making with the broader story of art.

10-Week Watercolour Course | Altona

This course is designed to help artists break through hesitation and discover the power of bold painting. Participants will learn to trust their instincts and find their visual voice in watercolor.

  • Each session will be a paint-along format, where Rehann will demonstrate and everyone paints together. Each session, will result in a finished work.

    • WEEK 1 – will focus on developing trust in your materials, cultivating intuitive decision-making and leaning into the expressive potential of the medium without fear.

    • WEEKS 2-5 – will be about understanding and experiencing what “bold” really means in watercolor, letting go of perfectionism and outcome-based painting and painting fast, big and fearlessly.

    • WEEKS 6-10 - will explore what makes a watercolor painting feel luminous or vibrantly lit. Through live demonstration and guided practice, participants will gain tools to create paintings with both visual depth and emotional resonance.

9-Week Watercolour Course | Mentone

We deconstruct classic Australian impressionist works from the Hiedelberg School masters and reinterpret them in watercolour. The approach is tailored for watercolour but the spirit in which they painted, is preserved and appreciated.

  • Each session will be a paint-along format, where Rehann will demonstrate and everyone paints together. Each session, will result in a finished work.
